Znuber, Pinus halepensis– Sowing Instructions

Maltese name; Znuber

English name; Aleppo pine

Pinus halepensis is an evergreen coniferous tree native to the Mediterranean region and hence grows very well in Malta. An established tree planted in a garden is very tolerant of drought.

Light; full sunlight- outdoors

Water; regularly, but let the surface of the compost dry between each watering.

Feeding; every two weeks

Compost; general compost C900

Sowing the seed:

When; September till mid-October, or in March

Where; In small pots filled with seeding compost in a partially shaded location till germination occurs.

How; Fill the pot with compost and sow the seed about 1.5cm/ half inch deep.

Care; Water and keep moist till germination occurs. Move to a sunny position after about two weeks from germination. Pot up the plant into a bigger pot when roots are coming out from the bottom of the pot.
